Bridges of America- one in a very bad area of Orlando and one in Sanford. These are on court-ordered only basis for non-violent criminals.
Veterans’ service which can be contacted thru the Winter Park outpatient clinic.
Center for Drug Free Living – CDFL- detox & rehab center, the best program that I know of, but space & wait times can be difficult to impossible to endure.. not to mention the irony of having an ABC liquor store across the street from the detox center.
There’s a few other limited-time livein facilities, some being religious in orientation. Recovery House in Sanford- men only, Christian based 407-323-5857-one year commitment
There are numerous counseling centers.
CDFL should be able to give you more detailed info.

Should Convicted Rapists Be Allowed to Live in a Halfway House for Recovering Addicts?

Question by ??????? Mrs. Moses ???????: Should convicted rapists be allowed to live in a halfway house for recovering addicts?
A close male member of my immediate family currently lives in a halfway house, after completing a 28-day drug addiction in-patient treatment program. He has lived in the house, which holds a maximum of 13 men, for 5 months now, and will have completed the 6 month program very soon. It is important to him for personal and legal reasons that he stay living in the house until he completes the program. He is serious about his recovery, and has been working hard to change his old behaviors, ways of thinking, and coping mechanisms. He does everything he is supposed to do, including regularly attending NA meetings, keeping with the house rules, and being open about his thoughts, feelings, fears, etc. All in all, he is really on the right path for lifelong recovery. Recently a man in his late 40’s moved into the house. We will call him “James.” Shortly after James moved into the house, another resident was checking the Maryland sex offender registry, out of curiosity, to see how many sex offenders were living close by. He then made the shocking discovery that James was registered. He wasn’t extremely troubled until he read the details. James is registered as a “Sexually Violent Offender” and his charge is listed as Rape: 2nd Degree. My relative and I looked up James on the Maryland Judiciary Case Search for more detail on his charges. This is what we found:

Where Can I Find Information on Pain Addiction to Write a Paper On?

Question by Hiro1221: Where can I find information on Pain Addiction to write a paper on?
I’m talking about real addiction to pain. Not pain pills or the pain(s) of being addicted to something. The actual addiction to causing yourself pain such as always getting into a horrible relationship or situations where pain will be the outcome. Haven’t been able to find much info except on personal made websites where someone writes their theory and thoughts on the subject. Need professional, documented work for a paper I’m writing for a school. Any websites, books, info, etc. will be much appreciated. Thank you everyone for your time. Take care and have a great and happy new year.
Thank you very much everyone. Really appreciate it.

I Need Some Recent, Reliable Statistics; Care to Help?

Question by Amethyst: I need some recent, reliable statistics; care to help?
I would very much like these statistics from reliable, recent sources:
What percentage of drug abusers become addicted
What percentage of teenagers use illegal (NOT prescription) drugs
What amount of money the U.S. has spent on the war on drugs so far this year.
How many arrests out of 1000 (or 100 or 10; doesn’t really matter just out of a number) are drug-related i.e. possession, use, selling
How many people each year die from tobacco
How many people each year die from alcohol poisoning
How many people each year die from alcohol-induced car accidents
What percentage of illegal drug addicts relapse after admitting themselves to treatment
What percentage of convicts in prison on drug-related charges were addicted to drugs at the time of the crime
Please include all of your sources. These statistics should be at least as recent as 2005, and if possible more recent than that. Thank you to anyone who answers.
I have googled these to no end! If you are not going to give me the actual statistics, please don’t answer!
