Addiction to Drugs Physical or Mental?

Question by Omar: addiction to drugs physical or mental?
Is addiction to stimulant drugs a physical or mental addiction?

Best answer:

Answer by .
Depends. And is probably a mixture of both. With a drug like cocaine, if you have been taking it a lot, and then you don’t have any, you get a itchy desperate feeling like you’ve got to have some more. Same with cigarettes or alcohol, your body gets used to having it and when it doesn’t, it starts to withdraw and you want mor to stop the feeling of discomfort. But then I’d say that the onset of the addiction comes from a mental perspective. Say with a drug like weed, the physical withdraw isn’t uncomfortable, you just rely on it mentally.

I assume that the increased availability of drugs is where the greatest amount of harm is. drugs become bad when people don’t receive medical treatment. Since drugs can be shipped anywhere and access to health care is unfair, the worst problem is in large neighborhoods where many teens are on probation for drug related crimes.

My husband has been addicted to hydro/soma for three years and has been trying to get off them. In my opinion he has started them again the past couple of weeks. Other then his expressions and attitude the only thing I have to substantiate my opinion is his constricted pupils. He denies that it has anything to do with his drug abuse and states that it is because his contacts are so old. I would like to know if his pupils are not contracting do to the abuse or if it is possible that something else has caused the constriction.

Can My Insurance Cover an Inpatient Addiction Program 100% ?

Question by khamla95: Can my insurance cover an inpatient addiction program 100% ?
I have Aetna insurance under my father, and last night i got ahold of a drug treatment facility to check into an inpatient rehab clinic for my prescription drug addiction. The woman gave me lots of info and took my insurance and called the insurance company to get an approval and when she called back today she said they will cover the 28-day inpatient program 100% with no expense to me, (The Holistic Addiction Treatment Center that is shown on shows like intervention and such…) she even said they would cover the flight to the center (It is in florida and I am located in Ohio where there are no covered treatment centers)

Addiction?

Question by danielle_wears_prada: addiction?
I have been smoking weed for 5 years now, recently I have been re evaluating my situation and I feel now is the time to give up my vices. I have dealt with hell these past 5 years and I used weed as an outlet, it was always the thing that I could just do and any problem would melt away….for a while that is. I steadily smoked my way through high school and now most of college and I am ready to quit. But heres the problem, I have been a daily smoker for 5 years…quitting just like that is impossible believe me I have tried, every time I get a little weak or upset thats what I turn to. I would like to quit naturally and over a small amount of time without rehab, any suggestions? NOTE TO READERS: PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ANSWER HOW YOU CHOOSE BUT DONT JUDGE ME, I AM SIMPLY ASKING FOR HELP HERE IF YOU CANT PROVIDE THAT THEN DONT ANSWER, ALL RIDICULOUS RESPONSES WILL BE IGNORED.
