My friend is suicidal and wants help and is wondering if there is any place she can go, kinda like rehab but for suicide instead of drugs and alcohol. She lives in Washington State so something local would be best but anything would be good.

yes there are.
if she’s willing to go without being forced, she could call 911 and ask them how she can go to one.. they can even send transportation. or you could just go to the emergency room and they can send her to one from there.

Hi. My name is Ian and I’m an alcoholic and drug addict. I’m in an intensive outpatient program at a rehab center. A requirement for the program is that I attend 8 AA/NA meetings. I went to my first one last night. It was in a church basement and there was lots of talk about God and staying sober through his graces. I’ve heard this same kind of talk at group. I’m an strong agonist atheist and think that it is dangerous to build a foundation of sobriety on fantasy. I’m basing my recovery not what makes me feel good but on what is true.

A friend of mine was recently sent to a residential drug rehabilitation center and I wanted to send her a care package, but I don’t know what to send. I don’t want to spark anything to make her upset, but I want her to know I am there for her. Any ideas?

The reason stated was due to excessive marijuana and alcohol use. March, 2007, I admitted myself to a Drug and Alcohol Rehab facility. I admitted to using alcohol and marijuana. I am clean and sober today. I have no other health issues. I am a 51 year old female. I’ve and 5 feet 3 inches tall and weigh 115 pounds. I get regular physical and do not have anything wrong with me. When will I be eligible under an individual health insurance plan?

You can also ask around at the nearest hospital. The doctors or nurses there can provide you with recommendations. I hope your father recovers soon. It’s always tough having a drug addict in the family. Just hold on and stay strong. 🙂

drugs and alcohol provide a temporary escape from reality and sometimes that helps. especially since reality has gotten a lot more harsh lately than it ever was before. no one considers the negative affects b/c they think that their use of drugs is temporary and they can stop when they feel better. they’re usually wrong.
