Shakes Due to Years of Alcohol/Drug Abuse…?

Question by Karenmurph: Shakes due to years of Alcohol/Drug abuse…?
My partner shakes, I think it is because he used to do a lot of drugs before me and also drank heavily. He is 33. Could it be a direct result of the substance abuse?

Has he been checked out by a physician specializing in addiction treatment? How long has he been sober?

There’s no way for anyone in internet land to be able to tell. My guess would be yes, it is related to substance abuse. Substance abuse kills livers, ruins kidneys, interferes with the central nervous system, and kills irreplaceable brain cells, just to name a few issues.

Chronic Pain and Drug Addiction…please Help.?

Question by Scooter: Chronic pain and drug addiction…please help.?
I have a friend whose son takes medication for a legitimate chronic pain. He is also, unfortunately addicited to several illicit drugs, and was already a heavy drinker when he was injured. Does anyone know of a treatment facility geared to handle drug addicition and pain management. Everything here has failed. The family doctor is concerned for his life.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The pain medication is prescribed by a doctor and is absolutely neccessary. He is under the care of competant pain management. The problem is most treatment facilities are only set up to get the drugs out of you. They aren’t set up to try and determine which ones need to really stay in you. we need advanced drug and alchohol treatment combined with pain management.

Amphetamine Abuse (Strange Symptom)?

Question by lancee813: Amphetamine Abuse (strange symptom)?
I know someone (60 yrs. old) who was abusing dexadrine and then adderall for over a year, during this time I noticed that they were constantly humming this short tune, over and over and over again, all the time. This humming began around the time the abuse began. He was combining the amphetamines with Vicodin , Effexor, and Seroquel. He has supposedly been clean of the amphetamines for the last month yet the humming continues. Could this possibly be a sign of brain damage from the drug abuse? Also, why did the drug induce this constant humming in the first place? Thanks for any help..
