What Do I Do About My Mom’s Drinking Problem?

Question by Rachel: What do I do about my mom’s drinking problem?
My mom has had a drinking problem for as long as I can remember. Last year she sat me down and tried to talk to me about it, but I still don’t understand why she has this problem and what I can do to help. She used to only get drunk on the weekends or at parties and stuff, but lately it seems like almost everyday she’ll come home from work drunk or I’ll come home and find her drunk. I want to tell her to just stop or get help or something but I don’t know how. I want her to go to rehab or a program that will help her or something because I get so frustrated when she gets drunk and I can’t do anything about it. Please help me!

Tell her you need to talk to her sit her down an tell her how you feel , if she’s a good parent she will understand your concerns and get the neccassay help, and sometimes to stop drinking it does not take rehab sometimes it’s just a change of heart , I would suggest finding a church home, they generally tend to be understanding and supporting , also she probably needs to see a therapist or a Physchiatrist sometimes the underlying problems of why she drinks can be resolved, a lot of people drink due to depression or some sort of chemical embalance not just to get wasted so I would most defiantly try to get her to get a phychiatrist.
