Will an Alcoholic Who Has Been Through Rehab and Stopped Drinking, Still Be Eligible for a Liver Transplant?

Question by Genna: Will an alcoholic who has been through rehab and stopped drinking, still be eligible for a liver transplant?
Also, will that person need to stop using pain meds before becoming eligible for a transplant too? Any idea what the minimum amount of time is needed for them to remain sober before being placed on the list?

Best answer:

Answer by ask and you shall receive
I don’t know- but you can google- alpha lipoic acid IV treatment. Read up on it-
it cures and regrows the liver. There is a MD in New Mexico who has great success
with this and patients fly in there from all over. He has about a year wait list, last time
I heard, so the “alcoholic” should make an appt with this Dr. now.

Do You Prefer Surgery or Non-Invasive Methods for Correcting a Herniated Disc – if You Were Diagnosed With It?

Question by DrJ: Do you prefer surgery or non-invasive methods for correcting a herniated disc – if you were diagnosed with it?
If you had a herniated disc causing back pain and or sciatic pain would you opt for invasive surgery or would you try a safer, non-invasive method such as the DRX9000 non-surgical spinal decompression system to fix the disc?

Best answer:

Answer by msc
DO not use the DRX I tried it with my 10mm L3-L4 herniated disc and it caused me to have surgery. I was worse off after trying it than before.
I ended up having a microdisecomy and now I better than new.

Question by Fabbymummy: I’m stuck in a rut!!?
I have 7 standard grades, a NC (national certificate) in pre-nursing, HNC (higher nat.cert) in health care and did 2yrs as a student nurse but had to come out of course due to family commitments at the time. I I don’t know what to do as a job, have been to see a career advisor. My ideal job is working with families as a social worker but I can’t go to uni till my family are a bit older. Is there something like this i could do for now, oviously less pay but working wi kids with issues. I don’t know what kind of job title that would be….anyone got any advise (pls no suggesting nursing homes!)

Would MA or LVN/LPN Be the Wiser Choice?

Question by : Would MA or LVN/LPN be the wiser choice?
I was considering a course in becoming an LVN however the cost is double compared to an MA so I am leaning towards MA. Does anyone have any comments on either or the job market for these careers?

Best answer:

Answer by mildred f
It depends upon how much job security you need in your life. Better education usually equals a better income. A medical assistant is very limited. Although an LVN goes to school for only one year, it is a Very intense year. A medical assistant cannot function in many health care areas so you are limited to something like a doctor’s office, and hope you can get this job.
