How Can I Find a Psychiatrist in Mineola, NY Area That Does Addiction Treatment?
Question by B333: How can I find a psychiatrist in Mineola, NY area that does addiction treatment?
One of my good friends is currently depressed and she has recently picked up on the habit of using opiates to self-medicate. Her family feels helpless and has requested that I help them out. The thing is that she refuses to go to inpatient drug rehab, partially because she is not willing to give up work and school in order to go do inpatient. Another thing with her is that she is currently taking psychiatric medications, which have been prescribed to her a while ago, but she is no longer under a psychiatrists supervision to monitor the drugs and better treat her depression.
Why Does the Whole Mental Health Industry Care More About Adjusting People to Society?
Question by NONAME: Why does the whole mental health industry care more about adjusting people to society?
than empowering people to rise above society. Sure, there are real mental disorders, like schizophrenia, drug addiction, depression, anxiety, Narcissism and psychopathy. They are not good for the sufferer, and personality disorders can be harmful to others. But I find that we make too many judgments about mental illness to stigmatize others, like psychiatrists are the deciders on what is okay and what is not, based solely on being an “authority”, or they label attributes not very popular, or against some cultural, religious or political ideology as insane. Like Defiant Personality disorder is just propaganda to stigmatize anyone who doesn’t do as they are told by some power hungry narcissist. Or just in general, they just function more on getting people to adapt to society, than to empower their clients to be able to control their lives. Its like a fish out of water, they are never going to have wellbeing in an environment, and its not like they can just cope.
Refilling Darvocet Early?
Question by Kiki R: Refilling Darvocet Early?
My doctor wrote me a 30 day prescription for darvocet for my severe fibromyalgia pain. 3 a day basically. I had a particularly bad flare up and had to take 1 and a 1/2 about 4-5 times a day to just get through it (I know, I should have called and asked, but I’d been told by this doctor before that I could do that). I’m about out, and I called to ask the pharmacy when I could get it filled, and she said no earlier than Nov. 21, which is exactly 30 days after I had it filled. But I’ve gotten my refill a week or so early before on other occasions. I talked to my doctor, and he doesn’t want to refill it early, and wants to try physical therapy instead. But, I’m in a lot of pain, and while I can handle it now, I don’t know if I can take it for two more weeks. And I can’t really afford physical therapy.
What Is the Real Definition of an Alcoholic?
Question by Becca: What is the real definition of an alcoholic?
Just because I drink now and then, people call me an alcoholic. I thought the definition was someone who can’t give up drinking. I can.
If I can drink, but can stop whenever I want, am I an alcoholic?
If you’re not obssessed with drinking, and could swap it for orange juice when you wanted to, would you call that an alcoholic? Even though you still drink?
