My sister is out of control (drug related) and my Mom wants to have her committed. She has no children & no husband. She is 27 yrs old. Can my Mom commit her w/out her being able to check herself out??? How does that work????

She can be PC’d (protected custody) for a certain amount of time, but she would have to commit (section 12) herself. The only way to commit another adult is to go through the time consuming process of proving their incompetance and that they are a danger to themselves and the community through the court of law.
